The Story

Sunflower Lane

This is a blog about the production process of Sunflower Lane, a 3 episode Sesame Street-inspired TV show. The first episode tackles subjects of traditional women's health including menses, abortion, STIs, and meno/perimenopause, using a light-hearted, humor-infused tone without downplaying the seriousness of the subject. Each artist involved in the project tells their personal experience through a variety of animation techniques.

We are a collective of intergenerational, gender-expansive artists (ages 19-65). In our monthly animation meetings we discuss issues and gain pertinent information from one another. Using our work as a platform, we offer this same dialogue to a wider audience. The intergenerational aspect is key to the success of Sunflower Lane. This series will bridge the gap between individuals who grew up during different times in history; a show that parents can watch with their children, grandparents with their grandchildren, and chosen families can use to connect with each other.
The pilot episode of Sunflower Lane is currently in production. In 2025 we will create the first three-episode season which launches in late 2025/early 2026.
